LEGO in 3D

My first serious 3D assignment in 3D Studio Max.
After 3 weeks of lessons (5 hours a week) they gave us an assignment to put an vehicle together in LEGO and put it in 3D.

So I started with my basic modeling knowledge and started creating brick after brick. I wanted something that was a bit bigger than the example they showed us. So it took a while to complete all the bricks.

After that, it looked already quite good, but my friend advised me to add some materials to make it more realistic. So then I started to play with some materials to see which were good and which not. In the end the raytrace materials came out the best.
So then I had to start to think about the lighting. I love the Skylight in 3D Studio Max, but unfortunately this light doesn't go very well with the raytrace materials. So then I used a little script, called E-Light, to make some kind of "dome" of lights, which gave me a perfect result.

You can see the result by clicking on the "view project" link.
I also made a wallpaper of it in 1600x1200 format (rendering time above 2 hours on my 3-year-old laptop :p). You can download it over here.
